A word of clarification: this is not the entire Auburn group's blog. It's just the blog of one of three teams. The two teams of full-time paid searchers will constitute a much larger portion of the effort. Here you will get the perspective of the unpaid part-time volunteers operating out of Nokuse Plantation. Our Team Three (a.k.a. Team Nokuse) consists of a number of skilled local birders and field naturalists, as well as several from other states.
October 26 addendum: Since the following post discusses the Muskogee (Creek) origin of "Choctawhatchee," it should be pointed out that "Nokuse" (pronounced no-go-see) is Creek for bear. MC Davis chose the black bear as the symbol for the 50,000 acre tract of conservation land he named Nokuse Plantation.
