Spruce Pine
These large cavities and recent scaling are in dead spruce pines, Pinus glabra, a fairly common large pine of the higher bottomlands in our search area. Its distribution does not extend into Arkansas or peninsular Florida, and is almost entirely within the historic range of the ivory-bill.
